LifeCell is the last anit wrinkle product you’ll ever need. It’s no secret that cosmeceutical companies are known to use a little hype to get consumers excited about their product, so is LifeCell just up to the same old tricks? Or have they put together a breakthrough anti aging product?
I did a bit of investigating into the key ingredients found in their product, and while some of their advertising and/or marketing might seem a little over the top, the science behind their product appears solid.
The big appeal of LifeCell is it’s touted as an All-in-One anti aging product. In theory this should save you time and money right? Most of us are tired of having to apply two or three products to achieve the results we want, and the cost of those products adds up.
Ingredients of LifeCell:
LifeCell All-in-One Skin Care system contains five key ingredients
- Dithiolane-3-Pentanic Acid
- Ascorbyl Palmitate
- Acetyl-Hexapeptide-3 (Botox® alternative)
- Deanol
- Ubiquinone
Dithiolane-3-Pentanic Acid (aka. D3PA), is another term for Alpha Lipoic Acid, a popular anti aging ingredient. It’s a universal antioxidant, meaning that it’s soluble in both water & oil making it extra effective at penetrating cells and protecting against the damaging effects of free radicals. Free radicals are responsible for a lot of the visble effects of aging we see including: wrinkles, fine lines, crows feet, puffy eyes & dark circles.
Ascorbyl Palmitate, is a form of Vitamin C. Many top anti aging skin care products contain some derivative of Vitamin C. It’s important to the over all health of our skin, how ever I wouldn’t say it has any “miracle” anti aging properties.
Acetyl-Hexapeptide-3 is a very powerful Botox® alternative. Is it the exact same thing as being injected with needles? No, there is no substitution for that cosmetic procedure, how ever LifeCell offers a far more cost effective alternative that does produce results, and for those scared of needles, LifeCell is well worth a try.
Deanol, I believe is also another name for DMAE, it’s a commonly used ingredient in anti aging & anti wrinkle cosmeceuticals. Deanol is a universal antioxidant as well as an anti-inflammatory. It can produce benefits for swelling and of course also reduce the negative aging effects of free radicals on our skin.
Ubiquinone, from what I can find is a synthetic variant of idebenone. Both are extremely powerful antioxidants. Dr. Leslie Bauman associate professor of dermatology at the University of Miami is quoted as saying “I’m trying not to get too excited, but I am convinced this [idebenone] is the best antioxidant I have seen yet,” in the January 2004 Issue of Allure magazine.
While these ingredients aren’t exclusive to LifeCell, the combination they have put together appears powerful and provides a very good defence against signs of aging, wrinkles and fine lines.
While LifeCell has a lot of testimonials on their website, and have taken the time to market their product to the who’s who of Hollywood, I feel the ingredients can stand on their own two feet without the hype.
